Vented tumble dryers expel moisture through a vent installed in an external wall or via a hose. However, it's important to note that if you plan to buy such a dryer, you must place it near an external wall or window. This allows for a vent to be installed through the wall, letting moisture escape outside; if you intend to use a hose for ventilation, you’ll also need a nearby window to hang the hose out of, again ensuring moisture is removed from your home.
Vented dryers are cheaper than condenser dryers and more economical to run—they don’t need to convert moisture, simply expelling it from the home. When drying a full load of laundry, vented dryers use about a fifth less energy than condenser dryers.
Vented dryers are reliable and low-maintenance—you don’t have to worry about emptying any water from the machine, as it takes care of that all by itself.
